What Hiring Django Developers Really Means

Django decides a lot early. The models written in month one become the migrations nobody wants to run in year three, the admin becomes the tool your operations team lives in, and the queryset nobody looked at becomes the reason a page takes four seconds. Hiring Django developers is mostly about finding people who have already lived through that part, rather than people who have only ever started projects.

Stallyons is registered in Delaware as a US company, and our senior Django engineers work inside a time-zone window you set, with four-plus hours of daily overlap. You sign a US contract, run diligence on a US entity and pay one US invoice. The engineers on your account average four-plus years of production Django across REST APIs, multi-tenant products and applications carrying real traffic, backed by twelve-plus years of delivery across six continents for founders, CTOs and product leaders.

What Django Developers Cover

Django applications that stay maintainable: models that match the domain, querysets that do not fire a thousand statements per page, and an admin your operations team can use without asking an engineer first.

REST APIs in Django REST Framework: serializers that validate properly, viewsets that stay readable, pagination and filtering that hold up, and versioning agreed before the first client integrates.

Migrations that run on real data: schema changes staged so a table lock never takes the site down, backfills separated from structure, and a rehearsal on a copy of production first.

Background work you can actually see: Celery tasks with timeouts, retries that are safe to repeat, a dead-letter path, and alerts on the result rather than on the worker process.

Multi-tenancy handled deliberately: isolation decided at the model layer, permissions enforced in one place, and no queryset that can accidentally cross a tenant boundary.

Upgrades that keep happening: a supported Django LTS, deprecation warnings treated as work, and dependency updates on a cadence, so a version jump is never a project of its own.

Why Product Teams Choose Dedicated Django Developers

How To Hire Django Developers Safely

Every engagement starts with a free 45-minute technical session. No slide deck, no sales script. You bring the application, the traffic and the constraints; you leave with a recommended team shape, a clear scope and a timeline.

We are selective about new engagements and cap how many we run at once, because the vetting is the product. If we cannot staff your Django work with engineers we would vouch for, we will tell you so.

Not sure what your Django app needs first? Let's map it.

Common Challenges

Why Do Django Projects Slow Down?

Six patterns behind almost every Django application that became slow and risky to release. None are about the framework.

N+1 Everywhere

01

A template loops over a queryset and each row fetches its own related object. One page becomes nine hundred queries, and the fix gets bought as a larger database instance instead of a select_related.

Migrations That Lock

02

A migration that adds a column with a default rewrites the whole table. It ran in a second on the developer's laptop and took the site down for eleven minutes.

Fat Views, Thin Tests

03

Business rules live in views, so nothing can be tested without a request. The suite covers URLs returning 200 and almost nothing about whether the answer is right.

Admin As Product

04

The admin got handed to customers because it was already there. Every new requirement becomes a custom override, and the upgrade path narrows with each one added.

Celery Failing Quietly

05

A Celery task dies mid-run with no alert and no safe re-run. The dashboard shows yesterday's numbers for a week, and the first person to notice is a customer reading a report.

Stuck On An Old Django

06

The app sits on a Django version that stopped getting security fixes. Every dependency upgrade now needs three others, so nobody starts and the gap grows.

Recognise a few of these? Let's fix the cause.

Our Django Services

Six Ways To Hire Senior Django Developers

Six ways to add Django capacity from one accountable vendor. Run one, or run several in parallel under a single contract.

Dedicated Django Developers

01

Named Django engineers who join your team, your board and your stand-ups, working to your review rules, with a lead who reports into you rather than around you.

DRF API Development

02

REST APIs built in DRF with serializer boundaries that hold, versioning agreed up front, generated schema docs, and pagination that survives a large result set.

Performance & Scaling

03

Query budgets, caching, indexes and the ORM changes behind them, measured against your own traffic rather than a benchmark on an empty database.

Django Version Upgrades

04

Version jumps to a supported Django LTS, run in stages: deprecations first, dependencies next, then the framework, with the suite green at every step.

Codebase Rescue Work

05

An inherited Django codebase read properly: models, migrations, query behaviour, tests and dependencies, then fixed in slices behind your review process.

Django Support & Maintenance

06

Security patching, dependency updates, small features and release support on a standing cadence, so the application never drifts far enough to need a rescue.

Not sure which Django engagement fits? Let's scope it together.

Why Choose Us

What Makes Hiring Django Developers Here Different

The details that decide whether a Django app is still quick to release in year three.

A US Legal Entity

01

Stallyons is registered in Delaware. Your contract, your invoice and your legal recourse sit with a US company, not an unknown one.

Deep ORM Knowledge

02

Our engineers have run Django under real traffic, so query counts, indexes and migration locks come up in week one, not after an incident.

Overlap You Set

03

You choose the hours we share with your working day, and stand-ups, reviews and escalations all happen inside that window.

Migrations Rehearsed

04

Schema changes are rehearsed against a copy of production, staged so nothing takes a lock it cannot afford, and reversible if a deploy goes badly.

Reviewed Code

05

Every merge is reviewed against an agreed definition of done, on your board, where you can read it yourself.

One Contract

06

One contract covers the engagement, so procurement, legal and finance each deal with a single named counterparty.

"We came to Stallyons after burning two years and four vendors on a multi-platform launch that kept slipping. They scoped it end-to-end — web app, iOS, Android, an AI summarization layer, and a Shopify integration — and shipped it in 22 weeks. One team, one budget, one quality bar. We've handed them three more engagements since."

"Stallyons rebuilt our customer-facing portal, integrated three legacy systems, shipped an AI document analysis pipeline, and brought our compliance posture to SOC 2 — all under one engagement. The senior engineers on the team have shipped at companies five times our size. It's the best vendor decision we've made in a decade."

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Hiring Django

A Django developer builds and maintains web applications and APIs in Django: the data model and its migrations, views or DRF endpoints, authentication and permissions, the admin your internal teams work in, background jobs in Celery, and the query and caching work that keeps it quick as the data grows. The strong ones spend as much time on schema and query behaviour as on features, because that is what decides how the application ages.
Django is the full framework: models, migrations, templates, the admin, authentication, the ORM. Django REST Framework is a layer on top for building APIs, adding serializers, viewsets, permissions and browsable docs. Most product work needs both, but the skills differ. Someone who has only built server-rendered pages will design serializers that leak the model, and someone who has only built APIs may never have configured the admin your operations team depends on.
Rates move with seniority, location and how much of the work is rescuing an existing application rather than starting one. Any single number quoted before scoping is a guess. What decides your cost is the seniority mix, how clearly the job is defined, and how much undocumented code the team has to absorb first. We price after scoping and itemise it.
Ask who you are contracting with and under which country’s law. Ask to meet the engineers who will actually do the work, not the ones in the pitch deck. Check when IP assignment gets signed, how access is granted and revoked, what the review standard is, and what happens when someone leaves. A vendor who answers those without hedging is usually the safer buy.
You do, from the first commit. NDA and IP assignment are signed before anyone gets repository or database access, with no licence-back and no shared ownership. Repositories, migration history, environment configuration and documentation live in your own accounts throughout, so there is nothing to hand back later.
Usually, and in stages rather than in one jump. Deprecation warnings get cleared first, then dependencies, then the framework version itself, with the test suite green at each step and a deploy after each one. Where a package has been abandoned we replace it before the upgrade rather than during it, so failures stay easy to attribute.
Most of our Django work starts that way. The first pass reads the models, the migration history, query behaviour, the task setup and whatever tests exist, and ends in a written list of what is safe to leave alone and what is costing you every sprint. We then fix in slices behind your own review process.
The common ones are unclear scope, juniors replacing the seniors you met, no shared working hours, unsigned IP and knowledge disappearing when someone leaves. We address them the same way each time: written scope, named engineers you approve, an agreed overlap window, IP signed before access, and documented handover before anyone rolls off.
